The kids’ wish lists were a big hit with you all this past weekend (see Maddie’s for Teen Girls here and Ben’s for Teen Boys here). I’m rounding out the family gift guides today with a little help from my #1 HomeBoy. I told Tom he couldn’t get away with not really wanting anything this year (why do men always say that?!), and he obliged and gave me the scoop on some of his tried and true favorites, and a few new fun ideas, too.
I like that Tom included a couple of subscriptions – those are gifts that literally keep on giving, and make the holiday joy last all year long. Wait no more…here are your 2020 Holiday Gift Guides for For Him and For Her:
1. Lightweight Puffer Jacket – This jacket from Patagonia is a winner. It’s warm and super lightweight, packs well and does a good job in the wind. It’s a close and comfy fit and will last forever. On sale now at Backcountry!
2. Vuori Joggers – Not only are joggers comfortable to wear around the house, but these also look good when heading out to walk the dog. Or at least that’s what I hear from my better half/dog walking partner who owns this blog.
3. Phone Docking Station – I have at least 3 locations right now for everything that I would keep in this single station. Plus, this would be especially good when all 5 of us (our pup Howie is always underfoot – never wants to miss out!) are trying to navigate the same hallway and closet at the same time.
4. Breakfast Sandwich Maker – At least 3 mornings per week, I’ll make an egg sandwich with cheese and/or ham. This will make the process easier, and I’ll get two bonuses: quicker clean-up and therefore fewer requests to actually get said clean-up done.
5. Nike Sneakers – Not unlike my old attitude about socks (see #9), if I have a handful or so of shoe options to take care of my general needs, I’m good, and inevitably there’s one pair that ends up getting the most usage. This is one of those. Good look, versatile, and probably comfortable too (I haven’t tried them on yet).
6. Rugged Boots – A solid pair of rugged boots is a must-have in every man’s wardrobe. These are great in the rain, are durable enough to wear to get stuff done and nice enough to wear casually. Be sure to check the size chart as these are Australian.
7. Neck and Shoulder Massager – My hope is that this can help me loosen up the regular knots between my spine and shoulder blades. Karen’s eyes lit up when she saw this on my list. I can tell I’ll be fending her off (not to mention the kids) to get any time using it.
8. Yeti Tumbler – I’ve had the same coffee tumbler for years, and it’s time for an update. This one works for both hot and cold. You can’t go wrong with YETI, and I love the clean white look, even if it is hard to keep clean. (There are lots of color options available.)
9. SockFancy Subscription – Until a couple of years ago, I couldn’t have cared less about socks. But my tastes have changed, and now I love the variety of socks with fun designs on them that I’ve bought for myself or that my family has given to me. Socks don’t last forever, so this subscription will keep me in good supply.
10. Craft Beer Club Subscription – I’m generally a spirits before wine before beer guy. But it goes without saying, we all need change in 2021. I’m looking forward to trying new brews and finding a few new favorites.
1. Home Girl Sweatshirt – No comment needed for my namesake sweatshirt. Get one. It’s super cozy! Then take your pic in it and send it to me!
2. Colleen Rothschild Discovery Kit – A few of my favorite bloggers swear by all things Colleen! The Discovery Kit is a great way to sample a handful of products at once, and comes with a cleansing cloth. I can’t wait to try these out! Goodbye, fine lines and hyperpigmentation!
3. Pajamas – This set by PJ Salvage is luxuriously soft, and I love that I stay cozy in them but not too hot. I never adopted the tie-die trend this year, but these jams fit the bill and are so cute with the tiny heart embellishment and red drawstring.
4. Orion Bowl – The simple elegance of this bowl is right up my alley. It’s large enough to make a statement (fill it with pomegranates and greenery sprigs should you grab one before the holiday!) and will undoubtedly migrate from kitchen to coffee table to entryway console. Black is a timeless classic.
5. Faux Fur Slippers – A touch of luxury goes a long way during these many months of staying at home, and these slips are at a super reasonable price! These are another great option; a bit more casual with more of an outdoor sole.
6. Everything is Figureoutable – I can’t wait to read this book on how to thrive in life and in business, especially because it’s written by an unapologetic female powerhouse I admire, who truly lives out loud. Boom!
7. Motivational Water Bottle – After my daughter got one of these for her birthday, I decided I need one, too. We all need to hydrate, and a little motivational message every couple of cups or so will keep me chugging.
8. Revlon Blow Dryer Brush – This made Maddie’s list, too, because she stole it from me the day after I got it! It’s a game-changer for my daily getting-ready routine – it cuts my styling time in half because it dries and smooths my hair so quickly!
9. Adidas Sneakers – Simple and streamlined, these white sneaks will look good with jeans, joggers, leggings, and casual skirts/dresses. You know the touch of gold on the back of this shoe makes it perfect!
10. Milk Frother – My dear friend Rebecca introduced me to this, and I love it! It’s so simple and fast to use, and makes my at-home tea lattes feel a little more like they came from my favorite breakfast bistro. Follow Rebecca on Insta @beccaleeandco, where she shares all the best deals and steals in fashion and beauty.
Whew! That’s a whole lotta gifts! We’re nearing the shipping deadlines for many retailers, so the time to shop is NOW (no rush! lol) if you haven’t already. As always, I’d love to hear from you about what’s on your wish lists, and if you have any must-have products I should try or gift, be sure to let me know below. I learn many of the best tips from you!
May your days be merry and bright! Good luck getting all your gifts 🙂 – may the force be with you all.
