After Maddie’s gift guide for Teen Girls went up yesterday, my inbox and DMs were flooded with requests for gift ideas for teen boys, who seem to be decidedly more challenging to shop for. Why is that?!
Ben to the rescue! I asked him to recommend his favorite things and add a few new ideas. I think he put together a pretty good list, and love that it has a lot of practicality. He dictated the product descriptions himself, with a few minor edits from me for increased readability and less “bruh”.
Presenting the 2020 Holiday Gift Guide for Teen Boys, courtesy of a real teen boy!
1. Toiletries Kit – Whenever we travel, Mom wishes I’d get one of these instead of using a plastic ziploc. I also end up borrowing stuff from my dad because I forget it at home. Putting all my personal stuff in a zippered case like this keeps them all in one spot, especially while traveling, but also at home so my sister doesn’t get mad at my mess.
2. Call of Duty – Black Ops: Cold War is the latest release in the Call of Duty series. I play this all the time online with my friends – a lot more now that we’re all staying at home. Mom wants me to tell you all it’s good in small doses because there is a lot of violence.
3. Pivo Pod Starter Pack – This is cool! You mount your phone in the pod and it moves/rotates to follow your movement so you can video yourself doing whatever it is you do – fielding grounders, shooting baskets, throwing the football, etc. My sister will for sure want to “borrow” (take and keep) it to shoot her YouTube videos as she moves around her room.
4. Skin Care Kit – While Mom is freaked out about my facial hair, I’m trying to get rid of breakouts. We both like this set, since it seems to be a good way to try a few new things. It has a daily face wash, lip balm, moisturizer, and a scrub which I think will be good for where my skin gets oily.
5. Youth On Course Membership – Youth On Course is a really great organization that makes golf affordable for kids. You pay a small fee for an annual membership in your state/area (note from Mom: the most expensive membership state membership listed is $30), and then you can play at participating courses for $5 or less. I golfed so much last summer at our local course using this membership.
6. Hoodie – When it comes to my wardrobe, it’s hoodies, sweatpants and shorts almost all the time. I like how thick and comfy hoodies are. This one is good, too and comes in lots of different colors.
7. Tile Bluetooth Trackers – I’m for sure asking for these. You can attach them to your keys, your wallet, whatever you don’t want to lose, so you can find it again when you lose it. I will need these in February when I start carrying keys more regularly (look out, Seattle!).
8. Beanie – Basic, simple, and warmer than my baseball caps when winter comes. My favorite beanies (like this one) are by Carhartt.
9. Joggers – See number six. They’re sporty, soft, and warm, and they’re comfy for hanging out around the house so much. Not that my wardrobe was any different before Covid started! I like these joggers, too.
10. Slides – You need these for easy slip-on shoes when you’re taking the garbage out, letting the dog out, and going from baseball practice (or any practice) to the street. A little (or a lot of) mud won’t hurt these.
11. Nike Air Force 1s – I wear these all the time. This is a solid choice for the 2nd year now. A lot of my friends have these, too, and love wearing them. It’s time for me to size up. (These are selling fast! More sizes here.)
12. Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker – This is easy to carry around and fun to have when you’re hanging out with your friends. It’s nice that I don’t have to worry about it getting wet in the rain or at the lake. Lots of color options.
(Karen writing now) So there you have it, a whole list of great gift ideas for teen boys, straight from the teen boy himself. We hope you find it helpful and would love to hear if you put any of these under the tree. What do your teen boys have on their wish lists? Feel free to let me know below – I love getting fresh ideas, especially as Ben’s birthday is not long after Christmas!
Happy shopping!
